Garden Plans

I am thinking about what we should plant this year in our garden.  Each family member has a say in what goes into our garden.  I really want to have tomatoes because we love them.  Anything from spaghetti sauce to salsa.  I just found this tomato tree online for free, just pay $4.99 shipping/handling.  It includes 6 pre-seeded pots that grows up to 8 feet tall and each plant can grow up to 60 pounds.  I cannot wait to get this one and plant it!

Our Hectic Day - Doctors, Doctors and Force Protection

This morning started off with our kid complaining that his stomach was still so sore, at times more then others, that he still could not eat anything.  I called my son's school attendance office to let them know that he would be absent today.  After dropping off our eldest son at school, we came home and I called to make an appointment and found out we were number 42 in the cue.  During the time I was hold, I organized all of my info to get an appointment today for my son who was sick and to get another appointment for our oldest who needs to get a few immunizations before they are allowed into school next year.

Immediately after that (around 745am), I realized that I had forgotten that I had a doctor appointment at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) at 930am.  We left an hour early, like we always do, and was almost late to our appointment because of Force Protection that is going on in San Diego.  Now I admit my husband telling me about it but I thought it was only at Naval Station San Diego, never hearing the part that it was for this entire region.  We spent 25 minutes on Florida Drive trying to get into NMCSD or also referred to as Balboa.  We made it to my appointment with 5 minutes to spare and somehow ended up waiting 1 1/2 hours to be seen.  Later I found out that there are people on rotation and that slowed things down quite a bit.  After my appointment at Balboa, we headed over to Clairemont Mesa and made it there with 5 minutes to spare.  We were seen right away and found out that our youngest had a stomach virus and that he is getting over it.  His doctor ordered Mylicon gas drops and after waiting in the pharmacy waiting room for about 10 minutes, we were told by the Pharmacy technician that they do not stock that medication and to try Miramar or Naval Base.  We opted for Naval Base and were in and out in 45 minutes.

We were home for a little while when I realized we were late in picking up our oldest from school so we headed over there.  When we got home, I started in on the laundry.  Luckily before we left this morning I loaded and started up the dishwasher so my cleaning day is not a total loss.  I just opened our dishwasher to empty it and realized that I forgot to remove my favorite water bottle and it melted and it is no longer useful for it's purpose...I am mourning it's loss now.  Our youngest is feeling a little better and I got some dishes and laundry done.

Oh and did I mention that last night I only got maybe 3 hours of sleep and that I am only functioning because of the 2 cups of Keurig Hazelnut coffee with turbinado sugar and non dairy creamer.

Now, what to make for dinner.

Manhattan Giant Pizza in San Diego, CA

We decided to try Manhattan Giant Pizza in San Diego, California this weekend because a man came around our neighborhood and passed our coupons that are normally left on your door.  We tried their 25" Hawaiian pizza which came with a 2 liter Coca Cola and their large order of buffalo wings.

Their 25" pizza crust in the middle was almost as thin as a sheet of paper, there was hardly any ham on it but there was a ton of pineapples on it.  The large order of buffalo wings were ordinary.

The order arrived in 45 minutes in a huge pizza box and a package on the side.

We did not see what was so special about the items we ordered and will not be ordering from this restaurant again.  Tried it and it was not a hit with our family.

San Diego 29th Annual Chinese New Year Cultural and Food Fair - February 12, 2011

It was a beautiful day at this years 29th Annual Chinese New Year Cultural and Food Fair today in downtown San Diego.  We enjoyed the Chinese lion parade, dancing and feeding the Chinese lions money for a year of good luck.  There were presentations from the mayor and a few other people, assorted food vendors, merchandise vendors and two Chinese Museums.  We visited the Museum and had our names written in Chinese with a $1 donation. We looked at some of the Chinese vendors, ate some dim sum, visited both museums and purchased a few things.  Here are the pictures we took of our visit today.  The dates on my pictures are wrong, these pictures were taken on Saturday, February 12, 2011.

Printable Coupon Sites

Some people say that they do not have to time clip coupons.  However in recent years, many coupons have gone online and in some cases you can download your coupons to your smart phone and redeem them at your local grocery store making it more convenient to save money.  Others still say they do not use coupons because of the stigmatism of people thinking that you are of a lower income bracket or because they were poor when they were younger.  Whatever the case may be coupons help to keep money in our pockets.

For those who say they do not have time to clip coupons, maybe they need to be pointed in the right direction.  Maybe they need to know where the best coupons are located or where the higher value coupons can be found.  Maybe they should be directed to friends or regular citizens who habitually use coupons and find out just how much using coupons saves them.  Using coupons is not a mind set but a lifestyle change.  I am all for using coupons if it is going to put money back in our pockets.

Yesterday, a friend and I went grocery shopping and I saved 20% of my grocery bill ($43.30 value) and I helped her with a portion of her $20 savings.
