Michaels Knack Free Family Event - Bottle Cap Necklaces
Michaels held their Knack Free Family Event today from 1-3pm. We decorated colored bottle caps with scrapbook paper and paper punch outs and then strung them with some elastic string. The kids really had fun making this craft their own. Here are some pictures of what we created. Our DiGiorno Pizza & Hoops House Party - March 19, 2011
Our DiGiorno Pizza & Hoops House Party yesterday got off to a slow start but it eventually was on a roll. It was a crisp Saturday afternoon with a slight chill in the air. There was a ton of food and drinks and the house was all decorated when the guests started to arrive at 3pm, right on time. The food was coming out as the guests were arriving. After everyone filled their stomach's with everything from pizza, breadsticks, wings, green salad with all the fixins, meat and cheese platters, kalua pig, spaghetti, italian meatballs, and more, Dollar Bill went around writing up all the name tags and then it was game on.
Half way through our party, the smoke alarm went off, so we opened up our house and tried to air it out. It was not until party guests Flyin Hawaiian and Lane Frost went by the smoke alarm and waved the bam bams near it that the smoke alarm finally went off...thanks guys for everything! Here is a picture of what they did.
After that, we started our first tournament and after all was said and done, Jaws came out on top as the number one player of all of us. Soon after we started our second tournament and again Jaws cam out on top, two in a row champions. Our third and final tournament was for kids only and after all was said and done Lane Frost was the champion.
After that, our guests continued to watch March Madness basketball games on tv, play outside and in the play room, talk stories and just enjoy each others company. After all of our guests had come and gone, our party got over at about 730pm.
Our party was a success! Everyone who came enjoyed themselves, had a ton of food to eat, had fun playing our basketball tournaments and enjoyed their time here. One of our guests even asked: "Is it delivery?" and the rest of us responded: "no, it's DiGiorno". The pizzas, breadsticks and wyngz were DELICIOUS!

Our Garden
Monday, I picked up some Miracle Grow Organic soil to start up or seedlings for our garden. I planted some chives, mild jalapeno peppers, red and green jalapeno peppers, garden beans and the tomato trees seedlings I recently got online for free at 1SaleADay and just paid shipping. Each tomato tree will grow up to 8 ft. tall and will produce up to 60 lbs. each. I hope it does what it claims because my family likes salsa and these veggies will create a lot of homemade salsa.

Borders Diary of a Wimpy Kid Movie Celebration

Homemade Ice Cream
This past weekend, I decided to make homemade ice cream in my ice cream maker. I purchased a strawberry mix from a grocery store and mixed it with whole milk and fresh chopped strawberries with some sugar and a little water. After all ingredients were added, they were mixed in the ice cream maker and frozen.
The ice cream came out good but is not at smooth and creamy as I would like. It tastes more like a light ice cream.
I have concluded that I will continue to look online for other recipes and keep trying new recipes until I find one that my family and I will love because it really does not take much time to make your own homemade ice cream.

Banana Bread
I love bananas and more importantly, I love banana bread!
Last night, I made some banana bread using this recipe at moneysavingmom.com. I altered her recipe and used 1/2 cup of turbinado sugar and 1/2 cup of white sugar. They were delicious when they came out. I will use this substitution from here on in but I love this recipe. I was able to pick up some discounted bananas at Albertsons which works perfect for this recipe.
Since I made it late last night, it will be great to enjoy it this morning for breakfast with a cup of coffee or anytime throughout the day and night.

We will also have our patio table and chairs set up on our back patio so the kids can play in our fenced in back yard. Inside is where all the delicious food will be created, cooked and set up. My husband knocked out the lawn so that is good to go.

We have been shopping around for a new grill now for a few months and finally found the one we really like and managed to get it at an even better deal then we anticipated.
